Xigera Camp, a true wetland paradise is a delight for birdwatchers and lovers of tranquil beauty. Located on Paradise Island and surrounded by deep channels and lush vegetation within a remote area of the productive Moremi Game Reserve. For much of the year this magnificent area epitomises the permanently flooded section of the Okavango Delta, with palm-filled islands, riverine forests, a multitude of clear water channels and expansive floodplains.

Each room comprises of en-suite facilities with a separate toilet and outdoor shower, writing desk and chair, easy chair, mosquito net, tea and coffee making facilities and an electronic safe.
Activities at Xigera Camp incudes game drives, mokoro trips, fishing & birding.
Game drives explore further afield, where wildlife like lion, leopard and hyaena, buffalo and elephant can be seen. Our open Land Rovers each accommodate a maximum of seven guests allowing each guest a ‘window’ outside seat. Please note that there are no night drives at Xigera.
There is no better way of viewing game and capturing the essence of the Okavango than by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe). The Okavango-born guide and poler will reveal the wiles and secrets of living in the Delta while you spot tiny frogs and colourful waterbirds. This activity is water-level dependent.
Fishing with a limited supply of basic equipment is on offer seasonally on a catch-and-release basis. Please note that fishing takes place in waters outside of the Moremi since fishing is not allowed within the Game Reserve.
Xigera Camp is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Aside from the famous Pel’s fishing-owl, waterbirds large and small, colourful and secretive are seen here, such as African skimmer, slaty egret, wattled crane and much more.
Xigera is a water-based camp offering guests an opportunity to experience the waterways of the Okavango Delta. In the peak months, guests are able to boat through over 60 kilometers of floodplain and channels to reach the islands where there are regular sightings of Buffalo, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Lechwe and Sitatunga as well as numerous other Delta species. Lion and leopard can also be seen crossing the deep channels as they move between islands. Hippo can be seen from mokoro and there is an abundance of birds, a special being Pel’s Fishing Owl.
Children:
Children of 06 years and older are accommodated.
For families travelling with children between 06 and 12 years, private activities need to be booked and paid for.
Children between 06 and 16 years must share with an adult/s in the same room.
The minimum age for boating activities is 06 years, while mekoros have a minimum age of 13 years.
Xigera Camp is undergoing a major rebuild and reinvention of one of the original Okavango Delta camps, a stalwart of the Wilderness Safaris’ stable since 1985 and a significant part of the company’s history and development, a brand new Xigera Safari Lodge will reopen in late 2019 at its prime location in Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
