"From the check-in to our departure we were amazed at the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel boasts spectacular views and the cliff pathway is amazing. From our position on the cliff we were able to spot whales breaching and dassies playing on the rocks. Truly beautiful. The rooms were spacious, well furnished in an Old Colonial style and really comfortable, and the sea food restaurant offered a wide selection of truly mouth watering cuisine. Thank you to Management and staff for a wonderful stay."

"The hotel is in a great location, especially if you have a room that overlooks the sea where we were able to watch whales without even having to go out. We had dinner in both restaurants Seafood and Pavilion both of which were excellent. Breakfast was excellent. The staff overall were attentive."

"I have just spent 7 nights at The Marine Hermanus hotel; the staff from house keeping to the management team were exceptional. They are friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Unfortunately one of our party was taken ill and the team could not have done more to help and look after us. The rooms are homely and comfortable with amazing sea views where you see the whales in the bay daily, the food was always delicious and the service impeccable. I cannot recommend this hotel and its setting highly enough."

"From the first minute, driving into the Hotel's parking area it was obvious that service is key in this Hotel. Something that became more and more obvious minute after minute, hour after hour and day after day. If then the quality of both breakfast - both cold & hot - as well as the Dinners in the Restaurant, then the Marine is a must when visiting Hermanus."

"If you want to relax, enjoy good food, enjoy good wines and cocktails, be looked after by very friendly people and pampered then this is the one for you. Who greeted us with our names and a big smile throughout the week from Arrival to Departure? Everybody! Our accommodation which was perfect, comfortable and relaxing, comprised a bedroom with through lounge and separate bathroom suite. For those who like a good breakfast this is for you, excellent choice to suit all tastes, including Full English. Room Service excellent. Restaurants Pavilion and Seafood excellent. Cocktail Bar excellent. Let's not forget the Boutique which not only provided an excellent gift range from postcards upwards, but also arranged our whale watching boat trip which was a huge success. We were totally delighted with the "The Marine" Hermanus. Many thanks to all the Management and Staff. A highly motivated friendly team who went beyond their call of duty to please us."

"We stayed with friends for the weekend. We were celebrating a significant birthday. Our room was beautiful and it was fabulous to lie in bed and watch the sunrise over Walker Bay. The meal in The Pavilion was faultless, sublime food and wonderful service. A big thank you to Patrick and Florence for making it such a special evening for us. All the staff were very friendly and very attentive."

"This was our second visit to this first class hotel on the cliff top in Hermanus. Could even see the whales in the bay from the balcony of our luxuriously furnished bedroom. Enjoyed the breakfast with sea views in the main dining room - eggs Royale superb. We enjoyed using the pool area when the weather permitted as well the comfortable lounge for evening drinks. The hotel organised a boat trip at short notice to watch the whales. Car park/security staff ensured parking space always available. Only criticism was the very poor wi-fi connection and speed compared to other hotels in South Africa."

"I recently had a very busy 2 day trip filled with exciting activities around Hermanus. The Marine was our base and proved an absolute oasis where we could recharge our batteries in luxury. Highlights were the 2 award winning restaurants, great cocktails, having the spa put me back together after a busy 2 days and seeing the whales cruise past from my bedroom balcony."

"This was the second hotel to be visited in the group, completely different, however very relaxing. We spent thee days here and all the hotel staff have been well chosen, with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent and the personal touch was being greeted by our names. The room had a wonderful view of Walker Bay, with the furnishings a high standard. There is a coastal path just outside the hotel which we enjoyed, then had afternoon tea afternoon tea on the terrace, which was excellent."

"Superb hotel in great location. Facilities were excellent as was the food and service in both restaurants. Staff were friendly and professional. Great having private balcony off bedroom. Could not fault anything and if in Hermanus again will definitely stay at Marine Hotel"
