The Highlands is positioned on the edge of a mountainous forest that surrounds the Olmoti volcano to the north of Ngorongoro Crater, providing a true wilderness experience.
The main feature of the area is the Ngorongoro Crater which is an iconic natural wonder of the world. The crater is in-fact a caldera which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago. The enclosed caldera is a flourishing ecosystem within the greater Serengeti and is home to a diverse wildlife population, including the Big Five and a high density of predators.
Eight elegant domed Tents offer king-sized beds with floor-to-canvas-ceiling window openings that offer spectacular views, en-suite bathrooms with double vanity, bucket showers and flushing toilets; a lounge area, in-room safes, wood-burning stoves for the cold winter evenings, and a verandah.
The Highlands boasts one Family Tent specifically designed to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children with two bedrooms and two separate bathrooms that are interlinked by a wooden walkway.
The main lodge area includes a lounge area with an authentic indoor fireplace, a dining area, bar, library, and laundry service.
Meals served at the camp are homemade using fresh, organic ingredients and supplies sourced from the Karatu area, just outside Ngorongoro. Packed breakfasts and lunches are an option, for guests who wish to spend more of their time exploring the crater.
Experience the highlands of the wild Ngorongoro Conservation Area surrounding camp, home to leopard, buffalo
The famous Ngorongoro Crater is easily accessible from camp, while the setting ensures maximum privacy, a rich adventure and a range of activities not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro.

"Glamping in a modern-day African expedition Upon arriving at Highlands, my husband and I were speechless as we took in the beauty of the camp. The property is set on the side of a lush green hill with spectacular views of the valley from every dome room and common area. The eight domes are set apart from each other and very private, with thick bushes and trees surrounding each. We felt immersed in the serenity of nature, as if we were the only ones around."

"The Highlands, Asilia Africa Over all experience of staying in this resort is very nice, the people are very friendly, the food is delicious, the atmosphere they created is filled with energetic, exciting and surprising ... Great experience !! The only concern is this resort is kind of far away, it takes us more than 2 hours to get there."

"Fabulous, amazing, wonderful! This a truly amazing place, we are so glad we stayed here. The location is breath taking. Be prepared for a long off road track to get there, but it is worth it! The domes/bedrooms are fantastic - wonderfully appointed (the double shower was most welcome after a dusty day game viewing in the crater), and extremely comfortable. The food is truly excellent, and the team are amazing. So welcoming, so much fun. We were celebrating our anniversary, and not only did they make us a delicious cake, they also sang songs, got us all up dancing - it was such a special experience. Thank you thank you thank you to everyone"

"We had wonderful time here The service and food are impeccable. Every tent has different feature. Some has we had a separate living quarter for third traveller. Our friends has a outdoor jacuzzi. It tends to become pretty chilly in the evening. The fire place was set up before we return from dinner. Food is amazing"
