"If it's a tented experience your after at more reasonable price then this is an excellent choice. Sure you may get a more luxurious experience in some of the lodges for considerably more money something which we experienced first hand but Tanda Tula has plenty to offer. Staff meals and game drives were all very good,as was the way they encouraged the inter-mingling of guests ensuring all had a very enjoyable time. You won't be disappointed."
"This place has it all. You are in a tent but it is basically a nice hotel with canvas walls. You can hear and see everything around you. It's on a hill above a dry riverbed. I would lay in my bed and watch the moon in the early am and listen to the sounds. One night in camp we had 3 leopards. You are always safe, but that was exciting. Eating for dinner is at one big table so that is nice to get to know people. Breakfast is outdoors. Lunch is a buffet and you sit where you like. There is a nice pool by a watering hole to watch the animals. The staff here cannot be beat. I love this place. The animal viewing when I was there was excellent. JV (guide) and Glen (tracker) were professionals and made the drives special."
"This was my first safari experience, and I was a bit apprehensive to do it solo. From the moment I arrived, everyone at Tanda Tula was warm and welcoming, and I absolutely loved the family-style dinners (which were exceptional!). The game rides with JV and Glen, and the level of service far exceeded my expectations and made for a very memorable trip. Our guides went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience, and shared their vast knowledge of the animals, the landscape and the region. And sleeping in a tent brought you even closer to life in the bush. There are too many people to thank for making my trip such a highlight of my time in South Africa, so Thank You Tanda Tula!!"
"We spent three days at Tanda Tula and it was, without reservation, perfect in every respect. The accommodation was comfortable, the food was exceptional, the staff were a delight. The game viewing was excellent and we particularly appreciated the way in which it was more of a "tracking and find" experience rather than just driving around ticking the "we saw a lion" boxes. The Ranger and Tracker were extraordinarily knowledgeable and took great care to pass on this knowledge during the course of a drive. Fascinating and delightful people. Superb animal sightings, Great food. I cannot recommend too highly. My wife and I have traveled extensively over the years and Tanda Tula must be very nearly at the top of our list of "Best experiences""
"I have been coming to Tanda Tula for approximately 35 years since my childhood. There have been a lot of changes over the years, and the lodge is constantly striving to improve itself, which it has achieved very well. I have never had a bad stay and our most recent stay a few weeks ago was once again a fantastic getaway! Thanks to the team and specially Scotch our guide who was once again great to spend time out in the bush with! Hope to be back soon again! Absolutely fabulous!"
"This was my first time visiting a safari camp and wasn't quite sure what to expect. Clenny greeted us with open arms and welcomed us home. What a great way to begin our stay! As we walked into the lodge area, we were amazed to see a group of elephants at the watering hole!! There were also a few warthogs giving the lawn a proper manicure. We were met in the lodge with refreshments and damp wash clothes which were much appreciated. The staff was so friendly and made us feel at home. Our tent was clean and comfortable and the hand written welcome note was a great personal touch. There are even electric blankets to keep you warm at night. Our guide, JV and tracker, Jack were a great pair to be with on our game drives. They were knowledgeable, humorous and took a genuine interest in providing us with the best vantage points for animal viewing without stressing the animals. The chefs at Tanda Tula are passionate about their work and provide the most delicious meals. When I fell ill, the staff was genuinely concerned and ensured that I was comfortable. Forman even took me out to meet the rest of the group on a game drive so that I could see the leopard that we had been tracking. I was so grateful for this! I cannot wait to return to the Tanda Tula family!!"
"What a fabulous time for the family. Our two girls (13, 15) enjoyed the experience beyond their wildest expectations. My wife and I had visited Tanda Tula last year and were so taken by the staff, guides, trackers, accommodation and food. We were delighted to be able to share this very special place with them. Outside the seamless transition with Kruger NP made each day an adventure as to what and how many we would see. We were treated to the big 5 in 2 out of our 3 days including the morning of our departure. Even had a leopard visit at 4am next to the tent as part of the wake up call. We shared our truck with a lovely couple from USA on their honeymoon and there were lots of laughs and stories to tell. It was sad to leave, but we will be back again next year!"
"We stayed at Tanda Tula Safari Camp in June 2015 with another two couples. From the moment we were collected from the airport , the experience was amazing. Staff were very friendly and so skilled in their knowledge of the African Bush and wildlife. The tented accommodation was luxurious and the meals created by the chef - delicious and plentiful. But the main reason for staying here is the safaris. We had such excellent sightings of all the big 5 and on numerous occasions. Surpassed all our expectations. Highly Recommend."
"My husband and I stayed here with one of our close friends and my father-in-law. We also stayed at another, more luxurious camp and we liked this one the best. The chef, Ryan, always pleased and we loved his presentation of each meal. Civilized and Patrick really made our stay memorable with their knowledge of the bush. Pinky was a memorable member of the staff as well. The rooms are very comfortable and we loved the outdoor showers and all the animals that visit the camp. Request Civilized as your ranger if you can."
"This month I was lucky enough to spend 4 nights with friends at Tanda Tula. It is almost impossible to praise the team there highly enough. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The operation appears to run seamlessly from morning wake up hot drink to an escort back to your tent at the end of each wonderful day. Of course it is all down to meticulous planning and a great team effort by everyone. Everything is done to make your time in the lodge as comfortable as possible, and your game rides on the jeep as exciting as possible. We had a variety of excellent food thanks to Ryan and his staff, and even a special birthday champagne lunch on a private deck by the waterhole which came as a complete surprise. Our guide Scotch and spotter Glen made sure we had close encounters with all the animals one would hope to see on an African safari and made each drive a fun and amazing experience. I could go on and on. If you have ever considered a South African safari trip go to Tanda Tula. You will have an incredible time and make memories to last you for ever."
"This was our first camp in South Africa and we were blown away by our accommodations and the staff. Tanda Tula is a beautiful camp with an exceptional staff. The food was amazing and you could see that the chef had a real passion for cooking. Our guide JV was very experienced and knowledgeable and I thoroughly enjoyed going out on game drives with him. I really don't have anything bad to say about this camp. The common area had a full bar, comfy couches and the property was beautifully landscaped. The camp is open so you will see monkeys, impala etc wandering through the camp throughout the day. Since this is a private game reserve the guides are able to go off road and that was nice so we could get really close to the animals. We saw so many great animals including Hippos, Rhino, Giraffe, Elephants, Lions and lion cubs and hyenas. Each vehicle has a spotter as well as a field guide which makes the game viewing even that much better. I highly recommend this camp and hope to be back again someday!"
