Reviews

"This was the best vacation I have ever been on, and this lodge was the reason for it. Chewy and Monica were our hosts and made everyday better than the last. Exceptional food, beautiful rooms, perfectly clean. I honestly can't say enough about it."

- Ashley

"Traveled to Serondella Game Lodge for the 2nd time around. It was every bit as good as we remembered. The hosts, Monica (Hostess) and 'Chewie' (Ranger) were extremely professional, and made us feel very welcome. Chewie was an incredibly professional and knowledgeable ranger. The amount of information that he gave us on the wildlife was second to none. Any questions asked were always answered. He was an outstanding driver, and extremely safety conscious. He took us on a bush walk, which was most enjoyable, and informative. Monica was extremely professional and made us feel very welcome and at ease at all times. She was without a doubt the perfect hostess. Always there when you needed her, without crowding you. Just perfect! Conright, the tracker, was very professional. 'Happy' was our chef, and she was outstanding. The quality of the food, and the menus were amazing. The accommodation was simply superb. We were in Serondella for the 2nd year running, Will we come back for a third year.... Absolutely!"

"My boyfriend and I joined my parents and my aunt and uncle at Serondella for 4 nights in August 2015. Serondella well exceeded our already sky-high expectations of an South African game lodge. Werner, our guide, and Sydney, our tracker, were fantastic - getting us up close and personal to the amazing wildlife while showing a true care, respect and passion for their precious environment. Nikki, the lodge manager, greeted us warmly after each game drive and shared our enthusiasm over every wonder we'd seen. When she found us standing in the grounds trying to identify a woodpecker, she rushed off to get a bird book to help us. Whenever we wanted anything, we'd turn around and it would be right there - like the animal and bird checklist in the rooms. We never went hungry or thirsty as Godsave and Happy, our chefs, and Moses, our barman, produced an array of wonderfully tasty food and drinks for us. It was a great mix of local specialties (like kudu) mixed with home comforts (like lamingtons for us Aussies). Mornings aren't the same since we've returned home and there aren't any more of their to-die-for pre-breakfast muffins! Our room was really comfortable. It had air-conditioning, but the thatched roof meant we didn't need it. As a proper arachnophobe, I was delighted to see the bed was surrounded by mosquito nets, although we didn't really need them. Lovely, Greety and Unishia were silent magicians - zipping in to clean and tidy our luxurious rooms while we were out having fun. The middle of the day was left for napping, but I never actually got around to having one because elephants, impala, warthogs, birds and more would all come to drink from the waterhole right in front of us while we lazed about on our balconies. We even had some excitement with animals coming in to snack in Film's beautiful gardens around the lodge. The staff at Serondella treat their guests like a treasured family member. We're already planning a return visit. I promise - you'll never want to leave!"

"Serondella was fantastic - the staff and the physical amenities - and we saw four of the big five. Didn't even mind that it rained most of the time we were there. Definitely recommend it!"

"Wow, from arrival and greeted by the ranger, Chewie, to the arrival at the lodge and being greeted by all the staff and welcomed by drums, Monica and her team was just awesome. Loved the feeling of being at home, rooms are just stunning, setting is beautiful, the food is real honest food, the ambiance is great and we just didn't want to leave. This is paradise in a often mad world, well done to Chewie and Monica for making us feel welcome and your passion is obvious in your staff and team members. A definite I will go there again place to visit. Chewie went out of his way to take us to a lion sighting on the morning of our check out, no rush, allowed us to spend time with this magnificent creature. Thanks Ranger Chewie"

"We stayed at Serondella Game Lodge for 5 nights in November 2015, and it really was an eye opener. Our ranger, Chewie, and the tracker, Conright, really brought the bush to life for us, and through their expertise we were rewarded with many sights of the game within the reserve, coupled with knowledgeable descriptions of the life of each species, and the concern for some rain to fall. Our human needs were well looked after by Monica and her team, and we were very well fed and watered, and found the lodges very comfortable. Each lodge looked onto a water hole, and the range of animals seen there was nearly as great as in the bush."

"I can't recommend this lodge enough! Our stay was even better than we had hoped for. The staff were super friendly - Nicki and Werner were awesome hosts. Our accommodation was luxurious and the food was really good. The game drives with Werner and Dumasani were amazing - enjoyable and informative, with so many photos! The intimate number of lodges meant we had the pool to ourselves in between the game drives; or we could doze on our deck overlooking the waterhole, with different animals turning up every day - elephants, baboons, impala to name a few. There was a turnover of guests in our 3 day stay which kept meal times interesting, as you met different travelers from all over the globe. Awesome stay!"

"Werner and Nikki went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Lodge was extremely comfortable with amazing views over a watering hole. The game drives were fantastic and second to none- we came home with some amazing photos! We spent 4 nights here and it surpassed all our expectations."

"I cannot say enough wonderful things about Serondella. There is no detail overlooked from the second you arrive until the second you leave. Every member of the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The rooms and grounds were beautiful and the food was consistently delicious, fresh and homemade. Every game drive with Werner & Sydney was new and exciting. They are both extremely knowledgeable and it seemed like we didn't have a single question that they couldn't answer. We saw and learned so many fascinating things, I just couldn't get enough. On our last night, the staff had set up an outdoor barbeque (while they don't like to call it that, I'm not sure what else to call it) with delicious food, excellent service and a great camp fire. Our last night was also our one year wedding anniversary and the staff had left us a bubble bath and bottle of champagne in our room which we thought was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Our whole Serondella/Thornybush experience created memories that will last a lifetime, such a special 3 days."

"We arrived in Serondella after spending a few days in the Kruger Park. From the moment you arrive and are greeted with the warm face clothes and iced tea we knew this would be an unforgettable experience. There are no words to express our amazing 4 day stay. Sydney our tracker picked us up and drove us to Serondella. The feel of the African wind was exhilarating. With great excitement we arrived at Serondella greeted by a beautiful smiling Nikki who could not do enough for us. The welcoming drums made you feel very special. Later we met Werner our tracker who also was superb and went out of his way to make this holiday so special. We loved the game drives and saw the big 5 and it was so much fun going off road as well as tracking the animals. Werner and Sydney are so knowledgeable and we learnt so much. The evening game drives and sunsets are indescribable! All the staff are amazing and so friendly. The food is superb and everything is homemade and so delicious. One of the highlights was my son getting engaged at Serondella. Nikki and Werner arranged a private dinner for them in the boma with champagne. It was the most romantic setting and my son said when he was proposing he could hear the elephants breaking down trees! We loved this camp as it is very secluded and only takes 8 guests. There were 6 of us and we loved the serenity. You cannot go wrong with staying here - it is worth the money. You will not regret it - you are treated like kings and queens from start to finish. We stayed 4 days and my only regret is that I wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Werner, Nikki and all the incredible staff! You made this holiday so special and one we will never forget! We hope to return! There is nothing that will beat this experience!"
