"We had the best time in N´Kaya! The hotel was awesome, the food was incredible and all the safaris were amazing! We have just returned to our country and we already want to go again!!! André, Lenae, Andrew, Beckson and all the staff... you are the best!!!!"
"My wife and I and our 2 sons Visited N'Kaya Lodge for 4 days at the end of a busy 2 week trip to SA, What a fantastic way to end your holiday. The accommodation, Thatched chalets, were comfortable and luxurious beautifully equipped and decorated. The management were more like hosts, welcoming, friendly and attentive making you feel you were guests at their home rather than a hotel. The food was excellent and the game drives were more than we could have hoped for. The other Lodges only had the big 5 but we had the big 7! The extra 2 being Andris and Becks who drove, tracked and guided for us. With over 30 years experience between them we saw everything we could have wished for, including a honeybager!, and could not have felt safer in their capable hands. Thornybush's policy with game drives of only allowing 2 vehicles at a time at any one siting keeps the animals relaxed and natural and your experience with them more personal. The only down side is too many photos to sift through!! Thanks Lenay, Andre and Dean for a great time"
"Upon arrival we received a warm friendly welcome from Leandra the on site manager. The individual huts with his and her bathrooms were just as we had hoped. A lovely peaceful lodge with a maximum of eight guests meant we always had personal service and had the last 2 game drives to ourselves as the other guests had left. Dean (guide) and Andreas (tracker) took us on all 7 of our games drives and they were fabulous - so knowledgeable and capable in their roles. On our first drive on the evening of our arrival we saw the big five and also on three other drives!!! They were always willing to find the animals that interested us most and give us the best vantage points. Amazing to be up so close and personal to Lions, Leopards, Cheetah, White and Black Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra... The birdlife was also amazing and spotting the various birds became something we really enjoyed. During our stay Becksom took over as the onsite manager and went the extra mile for me when I had a health issue. Also, on the last night the staff arranged an unexpected special dinner for two in our room - such a lovely touch. Overall, the accommodation, food, service and wildlife viewing was superb and exceeded our expectations in every way."
"We stayed at N'Kaya for 4 days in early Sept 2015. I cannot recommend this place enough. We had 8 people so we had the camp all to ourselves. Each game drive was great, Dean and Andres made sure we saw a lot of animals (the big 5 within 2 drives) and pointed out many not so obvious things in the bush. They are both extremely knowledgeable and passionate and this is part of what makes this place special. The camp itself was great, we did not have the best weather, but we were entertained by the animal blind and stories from the staff. The facilities are great, but what makes N'Kaya special is the people. Andre and his team make you feel like you are visiting old friends from the moment you arrive. We have many great memories from our stay and would love to back one day."
"We have just enjoyed five wonderful days at N'kaya. The early morning game drives were a highlight as Dean and Andres shared with us their great knowledge of and enthusiasm for the beautiful animals in the reserve. The suites were fabulous - a delight to have so much space and comfortable beds. Highlights - the little extras like the candlelit dinner in the hide, Lene's St Patrick Day afternoon tea, the candles lighting the way to our dining spots and the commitment of Andre and Lene to providing us with a truly memorable experience."
"N'Kaya Lodge is a first rate experience. You are in great hands with Andre and Liana as your hosts. Their combined backgrounds reflect in your culinary and bush experiences. We had a personalized visit (with just four suite houses/huts) whether it was our five a.m. sunrise and animal sightings with Dean as a guide and Andres as tracker, or returning to N'Kaya for delicious, fresh and beautifully presented first rate meals. This team has put their all into K'Naya and it shows. Every detail is taken care of, giving you the feeling that you are staying with friends. If you choose N'Kaya, you are in good hands and will have an exceptional all around experience. The most difficult part was re-entering the real world. Thank you, Andre, Liane, Dean and Andres for a phenomenal visit, hoping our family and friends will be able to visit you."
"My husband and I recently visited N'kaya lodge for 4 unforgettable nights. We were lucky enough to book out the entire lodge as it was my mother-in-law's 60th birthday. We really had the most fantastic time. We saw amazing game, were waited on hand and foot and enjoyed delicious meals. The staff are absolutely outstanding. Dean (game driver) was a fountain of knowledge and a whole lot of fun. Andries the tracker can spot things that no one else could and Bex the fantastic manager is hospitable and welcomes you like you are part of the family. Hot towels as you arrive at the lodge and after each game drives, luxurious suits, a gorgeous bar and a hide over looking a water hole are a few of the features of our stay. I hope that we will be able to go back again and I would recommend this establishment as one of the best! Thank you N'kaya lodge you were truly amazing!!!"
"We are a family of four from Sweden (kids of 18 and 21) and we had a fantastic 3-day stay at nKaya Game Lodge! This was our first, but definitely not last, trip to South Africa! Lodge Management in Lené and André were fantastic in their excellent service and attention to details! André was also our guide while the ordinary guide was on leave. André together with our tracker Andrew did a fantastic job in guiding us around the endless roads of Thornybush and all the wildlife – in addition to a couple of rounds of the big five, there is so much more to experience and learn, and André is really a pedagogical teacher with great experience! Unforgettable moments were the mating lions, the leopards, the fighting elephants and the sunset drinks with the giraffes, but also that you arranged such a fantastic birthday dinner (and surprises) for me and my daughter in the lookout-hut by the waterhole! Thank you so much for that! Really good food and great accommodation - We had two excellent suites. I like the smaller size of nKaya lodge which give an opportunity to talk to the other four guests at Breakfast, High-Tea and Dinner – often hosted by André. Thank you so much Lené, André, Andrew and all other staff! I sincerely hope we will meet you again, and I definitely recommend anyone a stay at nKaya Game Lodge in the Thornybush reserve."
"Beautiful setting with just four lodges for guests. Extremely comfortable and authentic. The management team of Lenay, Andre and Dean made this trip go far beyond any of our expectations. They were professional, welcoming and so very accommodating we did not want to leave!! Andres expertise with cameras also ensured we captured the memories brilliantly and he spent a considerable time teaching us expertly about the different settings on our new camera!! He told us more than the book, instructional DVD and on-line help put together!! I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone and can only hope you get to meet the staff we were fortunate enough to meet as they really helped make the trip so very special. The food was very nice and was also varied with so much choice. The rooms are immaculate and all staff so welcoming and obliging we did not want to leave!! The game drives were also excellent, with Dean ensuring ample photo opportunities with the various animals. His knowledge of all things on Safari was also excellent and very interesting. Thank you all again for a truly amazing experience."
"Fantastic two nights at this remarkable game lodge, excellent food, cooked fresh for us in the company of the trackers, Dean, Bex and Anders, luxury accommodation in self contained little thatched bungalows. Game drives were excellent - saw the big five and many more thanks to the skill of our tracker Anders and our driver Bex. The setting of this lodge and the layout around a central bar/lounge area, outside eating area and the secluded Boma makes it cozy and friendly. The hide is also a lovely place to pass an hour or two watching visiting animals with a cold beer/cider from the honesty bar! Well worth a visit, we will be back."
