"This was our first trip to South Africa, and I honestly wasn't too excited about going on Safari as it just didn't seem like my kind of thing. We did go and stayed here and it was such a great experience. The "Camp" was very nice, the food was great and the staff - amazing. Dennis, Dylan, Lee Anne and Richard (Mnisi) were just so fantastic. Everyone here goes above and beyond, and the attention to details (big or small) has spoiled me for future stays anywhere. Lee Anne was our guide and we all really enjoyed every game drive, she is wonderful to work with. Both trackers we had were also very good, and Mnisi took care of us each day for all meals and was so great to all of us. Highly recommend this for your safari experience."
"More elephants than we've ever seen, great food, terrific staff and rangers. This is a magical place. Whatever you want, whenever you want it, and our own "house warthogs, house ngala, house vervet monkeys and house wine". Amazing outdoor shower."
"I'm so glad we stayed here. Beautiful setting and luxury "tents". The staff were all top notch and treated us so well. We definitely felt special. The food was unbelievably delicious (and I came away with a few recipes). We were very fortunate to have Ranger Andrew and Tracker Adam. They take their jobs seriously, know what they are doing, and were very friendly and welcoming. They also showed us amazing animals. Our butler Richard (Minisi) also took great care of us and made sure we wanted for nothing. We were in great hands indeed. This was my first safari and I'm so glad this location was a part of my trip. The experience is hard to even put into words - you just have to see for yourself. And I hope to be back someday too!"
"Ngala does an excellent job of providing the feel of the bush with luxurious accommodations. "Tent" is a misnomer for your tent is anything but. All guests are housed in private huts which are completely outfitted to satisfy any possible need. The central lodge provides restaurants and a bar. Service is excellent with a staff member always present to provide whatever is desired. Gaming is great and the rangers and trackers are eager and extremely competent."
"We recently came back from an 8 day trip to Ngala Tented Camp. We were greeted by a very professional but friendly staff. Richard was our butler. His laugh was infectious. He took outstanding care of us. Dennis who is the manager always asked how we were doing. The food was outstanding and they would cater to your needs. Amos, the head chef is a wonder in the kitchen. If you wanted something different then what was planned they would accommodate you. The whole camp staff made you feel like you were at home. Derrick our Ranger/guide and Jonas our Tracker are an excellent team. We saw so many animals due to their skills. Their knowledge about the area and animals added an extra experience to each drive. We learned so much more than we thought we would. The only thing I would change about this trip is to make it longer."
"What an amazing stay at Ngala Tented Camp! My wife and I spent our honeymoon in South Africa and were recommended two different locations for game drives. Both were spectacular, but Ngala really won me over. The staff was amazing, and there was literally not a thing that I would change in our stay. As others have mentioned, game drives start early at 5:30 AM, but you'll grow used to the routine (as long as you don't take advantage of the flowing wine the night prior). Our guide Scott was amazing as was his partner tracker, Ernest. Scott clearly loves his job and his enthusiasm flows over into how he describes all aspects of what you're encountering in the bush. Ernie pointed out a ton of animal tracks and was a joy to be around. The grounds are amazing, and you feel like you're discovering untouched land when you turn the corner in parts of the park. We saw the Big 5, and then some! The highlight for our stay here was watching a Leopard eat its kill up in a tree - an iconic image, if I've seen one. Don't hesitate - book your trip here and enjoy! The food, staff, accommodations - all top notch. Just watch the monkeys - they stole our bread off our table one morning!"
"My wife and I spent 3 nights at Ngala Tented Camp, and we had a terrific time. The lodging were incredible, the food was delicious, and the staff was even better. The camp has a nice green lawn in the center, and the warthogs seemed to be in heaven with a steady supply of food and water and little threat from predators. Definitely worth visiting."
"This is just the most amazing place to stay. The location, the accommodation, the food and most importantly the staff are just simply the best. Words can just not express the most wonderful experience we had. Staying here. It is just perfection. Derrick and Jonas a special thanks for our amazing game drives, they were unreal."
"We just loved this placed. The tent is gorgeous. The staff so friendly and helpful. Our ranger and tracker were great. We saw so many animals and saw a lion kill and a young leopard climb a tree with her kill. The food is excellent, our butler took such good care of us. We were blown away by everything."
"Firstly you are warned to travel light due to the capacity on the small planes. There is no need to bring extra clothes for the evening as the Rangers radio ahead to say you're nearly back and you roll off the jeep into the social bar area and dinner is nearly ready. The tents are truly wonderful with comfortable beds, outside showers, beautiful baths and well stocked bars. We didn't use the bar in the tent as we were served drinks with lunch and dinner and that was more than sufficient! Mornings start with tea or coffee delivered to your tent at 5am and drives leave at 5.30am. The drives are amazing our tracker, Jonas, and ranger, Derek, were local men who has worked for over 20 years together. Derek told us how he walked 3 to 4 hours to school everyday as a boy and thus gained unparalleled experience and knowledge. They were both amazing and respectful to the animals being able to read their body language instinctively. We were privileged to witness male lions roaring and communicating with each other, hyenas with their Cubs, a half hearten elephant charging towards us and leopards protecting their kill. We also saw rhino grazing within feet of us and a leopard and her two X year old Cubs. Not so thrilling was the black mamba!!! Derek's knowledge extended to the bird life too. One evening we were surprised by a romantic candle lit dinner on our deck in honour of our anniversary. A scented bath has been drawn for me and a bottle of champagne was chilling in readiness. Fabulous! We had morning coffee in the bush each day and cocktails in the evening. Our final evening game drive culminated with cocktails and nibbles on a dry river bed lit by candles and hurricane lamps! I can't describe what a special time we had from the kitchen and housekeeping ladies singing and dancing for us to the lodge staff and of course Derek and Jonas. Thank you all!"
