Game viewing opportunities in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve are plentiful, with frequent sightings of the much sought after 'Big 5'. There are no fences between the Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands Game Reserve, so wildlife moves freely between the two parks. The Sabi Sands is in particular well known for its amazing leopard sightings and is home to 148 mammal species and over 500 bird species.
Early morning and late afternoon games are offered at the lodge and are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles and led by professional rangers. There is never more than 6 people on a game drive, ensuring an exclusive safari experience.
For the more adventurous traveler, explore the wilderness on foot with a professional ranger. Enjoy the smaller wondrous creatures of the bush and learn about the different fauna and flora.
A compulsory community levy of 12.50 USD per person per day is applicable.
Children of all ages are welcome at the camp.
Children under 12 years, sharing accommodation with full paying adults, pay the applicable child rate.
Children aged four and under are not permitted to dine in the boma in the evenings. Special dining arrangements can be made and babysitting services are provided on request, at a nominal charge.
Children aged four and under are unable to join the game drives unless their parents/party have reserved sole-use of the game drive vehicle at the additional cost.

"The experience that I got met my expectations and beyond. Having had a very close up with the Big 5 was for me an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The Ranger that was provided knew his story and was very helpful to my fellow tourists. The accommodation was of a high standard(5 star rating from myself) The whole process from the Reception, to the allocation of accommodation, preparations of meals to the Game drives were very professional. Keep the standard. The only snag I had was the reception for my mobile, Vodacom. May I suggest that something be done in this regard."

"Very expensive, beautiful large living quarters with patio and nice touches (ice refilled several times a day. It's all about the animals. If there aren't others in your group who MUST see the big 5, will tailor drives to what you want (birds, in my case). Very professional and well trained staff, the other guests were interesting and friendly. Altogether, a lovely experience."

"Camp site well layed out, suggest you fly in, long trip on in road transport, flying or drive out. Staff efficient, welcoming, and helpful. Accommodation 5 star, very roomy and comfortable. Guides extremely knowledgeable and accommodating."
"There are no words to explain the experience that we live in Mala Mala. I went with my husband on our honeymoon and I must say it is a wonderful place to celebrate this occasion. The facilities are excellent, the unparalleled attention and the experience of a safari, has no name. Our ranger, Dean Wraith, did an outstanding job, the treatment was fabulous, impressive knowledge, a very nice person and willing to assist us. Really, I thank you for making my honeymoon unforgettable."
"Never been on a game reserve before, go on this one it is out of this world. Friendly Rangers and first class at their job, you will soon see the Big 5 cannot do enough for you. Accommodation is like a six star hotel with great food. You will not be disappointed."
"MalaMala Main Camp was our first stop on a three week trip to Africa. We had a fantastic stay beginning with being picked up at the airport by our guide Roan and seeing a giraffe up close and personal on our drive to the camp. Everyone at the camp was extremely gracious and interested in making our stay one to remember. Roan was able to show us the Big 5 within 25 hours of our arrival and was an exceptional guide for our entire stay (as well as being a charming young man). The game viewing was excellent both from the safari vehicle and from the deck of our room, #16. We had all of our meals with Roan and two couples from California who also shared our game viewing vehicle. They were all fun and interesting and increased our enjoyment of our time at MalaMala. Also need to recognize Michael, the bartender, who was able to make "Godfathers" for me. He was always interesting to chat with and a lovely man. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this safari camp to anyone. It is first class all the way."
"Do yourselves a favor, visit MalaMala. You will not be disappointed. The big 5 in no time at all. Accommodations first class and the guides are very experienced and knowledgeable. You are in open Land Rovers and never felt in anyway in danger."
"We already made 6 trips in Southern Africa, visiting a lot of lodges and game reserves, but this was "a once in a lifetime experience". We have never seen wild animals so close, with very trustable drivers. The room was a dream."
