We had an enjoyable stay. Everything what we needed was there.

Richard du Preez

Thoroughly enjoyed the couple of days. Heard Lions roaring at nite but did not see them. We will definitely be back.

John Sinclair

It was wonderful to be there but we all got sore heads and backs, the beds are too hard the pillows need throwing away. I left my pillow there last night hope to get it backGet better beds and pillows other wise we could not sleep there again

F C BLOMKAMP

We enjoyed the stay. The accommodation and the view is excellent. The breakfast that is included was a pleasant suprise. The variety that you can choose from and the service at the restaurant is very good.

Dries

Excellent camping facilities with very effective and friendly management.

Pieter Erasmus

A one night stopover but enough of a taster to tell us that we must stay longer next time and explore what is on offer. Best Parks Board accomodation we've stayed in!

maureen battersby

Apart from the lions which were absolutely great one of the most outstanding aspects of our stay was the wonderful staff. It was an eyeopener to see how helpful and cheerful they were. Nothing was too much trouble. The Karoo National Park truely deserve the title of the best of the National Parks in South Africa.

Alison

Excellent clean accommodation. Beds to completely relax in. So comfortable. Delicious breakfast, well served and peace and quiet was our best.. Really enjoyed our game viewing. Just a pity we did not see lion ! Thank you.

Marrian Gregg

Very good and friendly. Technical officials assisted with a flat tyre. It was fixed at the local workshop. Thanks!!!!!

Eliza Heystek

Our short visit allowed us to enjoy the Karoo terrain and see an interesting variety of wildlife not always encountered elsewhere.

Anthony Dalby

Loved It.

REX ZORAB

Well placed camp into stunning Karoo landscape with interesting geology.Clean but somewhat aging facilities.Aircondition did not operate in reverse (heating) and mattresses were too hard for us old folk.Did experience inclement weather with temperatures between 6 and 12

Jurgen Hontsch

We were very impress with the service from the main gate up to the staff at the restaurant. The accommodation was modern and very clean. We will visit the park again.

Vincent Harris

We had a wonderful time in a wonderful park. It is a really special place, good accommodation, good food and lovely people.

Simply beautiful and peaceful

Andre Meyer

We had a fabulous time! Facilities were excellent. Staff friendly. All in all one of the best camps we have stayed in.

KIRSTIN FRENCH

The best National Park in South Africa!

JOHAN TRUTER

Staff friendly and efficient, cottage clean all linen, towels etc freshly cleaned. Karoo Park is a great place to stay over. will always stop over here on our trips up country.

Terry welsh

Great service from all the friendly staff at reception, shop, restaurant and chalet. A marked difference in attitude between Karoo National Park and Kruger National Park which was mostly terrible - 8 nights in October 2012.

Jo Sievers

We were greeted in a most professional way at the gate by your friendly staff. We would like to make special mention of Armond and his spotter (sorry I can't remember his name) but they took us on a wonderful night drive. Armond is very knowledgable and gave us really interesting facts. The restaurant is also fantastic, good food, good value for money and very friendly staff. Well done to all at Karoo National Park.

RUSSELL WILLOWS

Stay was enjoyable, would love to visit again. Thank you

Antwanette Heyns

Only drawback of our stay was the lack of under covered parking for vehicles, especially if you stay a couple of days at the park.

TOM VORSTER

The Karoo National Park is kept in excellent condition. The staff are all very hospitable and well informed about all the activities so as to keep the guests updated. Breakfast was most enjoyable as was the a la carte restaurant in the evening. Well done!

Mike Hughes

What a wonderful start to our holiday. While driving in we were already greeted by wild animals, a friendly reception, well stocked shop, green stands and clean bathrooms! Will visit again!

Tania Kleynhans

We always enjoy the Karroo National Park. It is one of the best run Parks in South Africa.

Dear Accommodation Direct TeamYour e-mail dated 22 June 2014 in above regard refers. The experience of my husband and myself during our stay at the Karoo Rest Camp exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was and well prepared and the first impression created a desire to return to the Park in future – especially during a warmer season. During our stay the area was hit by a cold front and the icy wind prevents the exploring of all your outdoor facilities. The full suite of TV channels on DSTV is regarded another “plus” for the park. The staff at the Reception, Shop and Cafeteria were extremely friendly and supportive, contributing towards our pleasant experience of the Park. The only point for consideration which I want to offer, deals with the parking bays for vehicles. Due to the high prices of vehicles at present, it will be appreciated if the parking bays can at least be provided with shading nets, if not a more permanent type of cover in black to compliment the thatch roofs of the living units – the structures are already in existence. Especially in summer this will be regarded a great asset. On behalf of the two of us I want to compliment the Park and thank you for a most enjoyable stay.Kind regardsEsme

ESME VISAGIE

This must be the best kept secret. We had one of our best holidays here. The accommodation was great and the staff very friendly. We will most definitely visit again. We saw game not mentioned on your list such as red hartebeest, gemsbok, grey reebok, klipspringer.

Hilary Wyness

As in the past a rewarding experience, our stay was too short but weenjoyed a fantastic breakfast and the staff was super!

D G Poggenpoel

Received a warm welcome at the gate. professional staff at reception and restaurant. Could not switch on air conditioner so rather cold. We did not have enough time for game viewing, but would come again.

Walter Willetts

Upon entering the Park, we were greeted by a very friendly member of your staff and we were informed where we could find game. The staff at reception were helpful and friendly. We found that the camping facilities were very neat and a pleasure to stay in. We are most impressed and wish our neighbouring countries could follow your example.

Suzette Braxton

THANKS !!

We enjoyed our stay tremendously! We stayed over for two nights, which gave us a whole day for game driving. Saw lots of buck, lucky to have a male lion pass right in front of us, and we nearly missed seeing a rhino! Also, breakfast is great!

Esme Van Rensburg

Uitstekend, sal weer daar oornag

Arrie Hattingh

Lovely stay, park very well managed and maintained. Game- lions in particular- looked so healthy. Great breakfast. Would definitely return.

Carmen Brown

Dit was 'n aangename verrassing. Alles baie skoon en netjies. Personeel baie vriendelik. Ons het dit verblyf baie geniet en sal weer en weer en weer die park gaan besoek.

I very much enjoyed the park and it was a good experience. It would be great if they can fix the damp & water damage on the buildings & rooms which indicates a lack of maintenance.

Morne van Schalkwyk

Accommodation with braai facilities very good.

Robert Willemse

While we only overnighted to break the long drive to Cape Town we found the resort to be of a high standard. From the guard at the gate to the reception and the staff in the restaurant, they were all very friendly and helpful. The camp site was neat and clean. We would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting some quiet time in the Karoo. The booking system via e mail was a nightmare! Before you received the confirmation e mail it had expired. You really need to extend the time to be able to pay for your reservation. Had to do it three times.

MRS SPENCER

We had a wonderful few days in the park. Saw about fifteen different animals on our drives Cottages are very nice and the restaurant was very good. Gift shop well stocked. Lots to see and do and all well maintained. Please keep that standard.

Sheila Shaw

We had a wonderful two days in the Park. There are excellent things to see and do, and some very good game routes and picnic spots around the park. It is very well maintained and there is a good restaurant and well stocked shop with a good and interesting selection of things to buy. Good stopover en route to Cape Town. Saw fifteen different animals or big birds on our drives.

GREAT CAMP

Pieter Maass

It became a must for us to rest at this camp when we travel to the Cape for business as well as back North. It is a peaceful and restful experience. The service is excellent and the chalets very practical and clean.

Anita Ybema

Very Good.

Brian Vincent

Fantastic view from chalet; great drives; few animals to be seen; the entire set up is fresh, attractive and very clean; lovely place

elke geising

We really enjoyed it so much that we actually booked a second day at Karoo National Park. The staff is efficient and friendly. The bungalows excellent. And nature does the rest. Except for a fluffy towel "TOPS!" thank you very much.

Ansgar Gaedke

We enjoyed excellent accommodation and was treated in a professional way by your staff. Only two complaints to better your service: Cockroaches behind the air conditioning unit and secondly, You have to choose for either a cereal breakfast or an English breakfast. This in contrast to many accommodation facilities where the cereal is a starter for a breakfast. I complained to the same effect before but nothing has changed.

STEVE BASSON

The scenery was out of this world, chalets - not as luxury as expected, perfect place to chill, menu - nothing to write home about, shop/ well stocked, Man at the entrance very friendly, nice but should have only stayed one night. saw plenty ostriches and one tortoise and a few buck everything else took advantage of the Christmas Hols!

We loved the area and the chalet itself. The kitchen was well equipped. Breakfast was done with a lot of enthusiasm and a bonus, thank you! Our biggest complaint was the VERY UNCOMFORTABLE BEDS!!! There were only 2 single beds and a double couch folded open into a bed, if you can call it a bed??? It was as if sleeping on a rock!!! Terrible! Please bring in real beds!

We had a rather pleasant stay in the unit and an enjoyable couple of meals in the restaurant. my wife unfortunately left her rather expensive Make up kit behind in the chalet and we were wondering whether this could be sent to JHB or pretoria for us to recover. Many thanks

Dave Dunn

Good accommodation, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good but disappointing that they offered tinned fruit and not fresh. It's also a pity that they have introduced lions into the park as we saw little game and missed being able to walk around freely like previously.

Hi Great staff, great food. Maybe a bit of upgrading of linen and towels.

CJ Tolmie

We had a fantastic time and the Park is stunning. It was our first visit and we were impressed. The only criticism I have is that the ablutions could have been cleaned more than once a day.

DENESE DE JONG

Cottage beautiful and clean. People all helpful and smiling. Breakfast: cooked is excellent but we prefer a health breakfast. The offer was muesli with fruit in syrup and yoghurt....what we got was a plate of fruit in syrup with a dash of yoghurt and a sprinkling of muesli. More of a dessert and hardly healthy! Your old way of offering a health buffet with cereals, yoghurt, health muffins, (not scones), and fruit was far more nutritious, edible and healthy! Will return but will skip breakfast.

Wendy James

We really did enjoy our stay and rested well. The shop was a nice experience and kept all products needed and the shop staff was exceptional. The breakfasts however was a disappointment .Firstly we received canned fruit as fruit salad and no cereals were available we had to request cereal and that was part of the options as ordered. Please visit the Mattoppo Inn Guest house in B/west as we stayed there on our return and for r 60.00 p/p had a real value for money breakfast. It included fresh fruit salad and yogurt with cereal and stewed fruit and the hot breakfast was a set menu to order. Our overall experience was above average and we will visit again.RegardsJohan Bezuidenhout0829024226

We really enjoyed the park and all amenities are excellent, clean and well kept. The only criticism is that the restaurant was fully booked, in advance, for days ahead. This forced us to drive to town for dinner. The town is however very close and therefore not too much of a problem.

WL Roos

Lovely weather, all staff very friendly and helpfull. Accomodation lovely and clean and private. Aircon working very well in the heat of the day.Breakfast in the morning also worth your while. Saw lots of animals like the kwagga, zebra's ostriches and lots of baby ostriches, lots of oryx and blesbuck. Kudu's were hiding in the bushes, but we managed to see a few. We also did some 4 x 4. Lots of tortoises too!!!Definately going to visit them again!!!

Carmen Munz

We stayed over just for the night. Were very sastisfied with the accomodation. Would like to pay another visit some time and stay a bit longer.

Beautiful camp and nice accommodation. We also very much enjoyed the swimming pool and the morning game drive. We did though not enjoy the food in the restaurant where we had dinner. The breakfast was also quite poorish.Contrarily, the shop is well equipped.

Inge Herbert

It was a great experience, and everything was wonderful

Corlia van Zyl

The restaurant at the park was very busy the night we had dinner there. The service was very disappointing in that it took over 2hours for our meal to come. They were very short staffed and if we go back to KNP again I think we would go the self catering route.

G Rowland

The only inconvenience was that after traveling hundreds of km and looking forward to relaxing there was no braaiwood or charcoal available from the shop. The shop assistant said that they struggle to get stock we had to drive to town. Both Pick and Pay and Checkers had wood?! 'Struggle to get stock?'

Bee Muller

This is a special place. Please keep up the standard of accommodation.Thank you.

Brilliant place to stay would recommend it to everyone....

Peaceful and beautiful views make it special.Chalets beautifully renovated which was appreciated.TV s will be appreciated if only to see SABC and E TV channels. All in all a good experience although only utilised as overnight to CT.So little animals were seen.Did not drive much around.Info brochures were good and well used by us.Thank you for good stay.

I am a trauma doctor and the Karoo always supplies me with the peace and quiet that I need to recharge and do my job with the vigor and mental strength it requires. Thanks for a brilliant hiding place...

We had a wonderful time, we can always trust the national parks to have full wheelchair accessible facilities. Thank you.

We so impressed that we extended our stay from one night to two.The welcome and service we had from the gate onwards was a pleasure and we will certainly be back! The accommodation was superb and the birding and animals were a big surprise especially the lion! Our only disappointment was the lack of a guide to take us on a night drive. Well done and good luck.

Harrison

Gaas voor die venster en deure kan help, aangesien ons 'n probleem met muise gehad het wat inkom en die brood ens begin eet!

Lynette Roos

We were disappointed - we only saw a few buck - but the mountain drives were most impressive

Tish Hall

Thank you for the lovely overnight stay. It was absolutely a peace of heaven. The park is so neat and clean and the sights we saw were just marvelous. You can be proud of this park and an A+ to the Parks Board and its staff at the Karoo National Park.

Yvonne du Toit

My husband and I took our 2 year old son along on our Karoo Camping Holiday and we had a great time. The camp sites were extremely neat and well kept along with the ablutions. The mountain tortoises roaming the camp site provided endless entertainment for our son. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the Interpretive Centre. We look forward to our next trip!

The camp sites are all in excellent condition despite the dry conditions. The ablutions, although old are well kept and maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in the Karoo. Thank you.

Pieter Fourie

Every time we drive pass the gate of this park in the past, we wondered why we never book one or two nights on our way to Cape town or George. This time we did it - what a wonderful experience, but one night is not enough. Next time we will come with our 4X4 and we might even consider camping. The stay was great and the breakfast was wonderful.

S.F. Haasbroek

We had a short, but most enjoyable time - Thank You.The staff at reception and in the shop and in the dining were most helpful, courteous and efficient. The chalet was clean and comfortable and what I liked the most is that there was NO t.v. so we could enjoy the sounds of nature.

Donald Sutherland

Was nice, but for locals very expensive just for one night. Very nice evening dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Nice 4x4 trail too.

V Swanepoel

Sadly we were only over-nighting and arrived late afternoon and left early morning. Our chalet was well equipped and comfortable. We do find it overpriced to other self-catering accomm we use around SA, although we are aware this is in a national park that requires upkeep.

J Bremner

Absolutely wonderful. We have used it only as a sleep over for one night. Big mistake! We only had 2 hours to drive around the afternoon we arrived. But still worth it. The peace and atmosphere only the Karoo can provide was outstanding! We definitely enjoyed it. Thank you very much.

A Swanepoel

From reception at main gate through reception, shop, accommodation everything was really exceptional. This was our second visit and we will recommend it to all our friends.

Dr J A van Tonder

It was enjoyable, although we did not see many animals, but we really enjoyed the beautiful mountain ranges, mind boggling! We also enjoyed the drive up the Klipspringer pass. The view was amazing. The swimming pool area is also very nice, although we did not swim!

Staff very helpful an friendly, resort neat, bird hide needs attention, limited access for viewing for non 4x4 vehicles, good improvement to widen the area for guests to walk around.

We were well received, the camp and accommodation was clean and neat. I liked the plantings around the camp, and enjoyed the tortoises which seemed to live in the rest camp. The food in the restaurant was good and the service friendly, infact all the staff were welcoming and helpful. The fossil walk was facinating.Mary Thrash

This was the third time around just for an overnight but I have to, again, to tell everyone that this stay was worthwhile!

The accomodation was of a good standard. The park itself was vast and interesting. We did try and do one of the trails but lost the trail markers and gave up and returned to drive through by car.

We enjoyed the 2 days, very relaxing, clean environment, well looked after infrastructure. Helpful staff. Not that many species though.

Gerhard

We were very pleasantly surprised, the chalets were great, the reception staff were friendly & efficient & the restaurant food & service was excellent. One negative was that it was cold & very windy & the chalet windows did not seal well.

Rufaine Hindley

Wonderful camp, and everything positive about it. But all aspects of the restaurant is very poor. Check your web site and you will find that is the general complaint. Perhaps you should tell your clients not to use it until the restauranteur is replaced

Everything was fine except the brekfeast--- was of low standardRegards

It was disappointing that walking tours were not available; but personal crises do happen. No backup guide, though? What is not as easy to forgive is the mediocre quality of meals - at the price!

Martina De Lange

Great experience - but the restaurants are crazy - at the Karoo National Park the food is priced like a very good restaurant in the city, but the standard is way below - at the restaurant in the Kruger at Skukuza it was the same story - the buffet is overpriced and the standard shocking, as was the service - half the pots were empty, the food was cold, e.g. they eventually brought us croutons for our soup as we were finishing the main course

Unfortunately the weather was not fantastic, but the Park, the facilities, the people and the restaurant were first class!! Had a wonderful stay and will definitely do it again.

Jacques Cilliers

We stopped over for a night's rest while travelling north towards the western Cape. Service was excellent. Everybody very friendly and helpful and the dinner served was extraordinary and tasty. I can recommend this camp, even for only a night's stay. However, we would like to visit and stay a few days to explore the abundant wildlife.

Anita Ybema

The Breakfasts have deteriorated - Cereals & porridge and fruit (fresh and tinned)are no longer offered - for the overall price paid (3 star+) these should be available. The Dinner menu needs updating and new items offered. The food should be described in fair detail as the waiters do not know what is actually available or how to describe the items. Actually I would grade the restaurant as only 1 Star. The rooms were as expected for a SAN park but the taps in the bathroom all need new washers and mixers. The glass shower door is an improvement.

Pat Burns

The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull, and the chalet was clean and well equiped. Dinnner and breakfast was well prepared and delicious and also served very well. We enjoyed our stay.

Albert Strever

Ons verblyf in Karoo Nat. Park was 'n belewenis! Die kampterein is goed versorg en die ablusssies 5 ster gehalte. Ontvangs was uiters profesioneel en vriendelik. Doen so voort!

David Maartens

We really had a fabulous time. The game watching was great and plenty of animals early in the morning. On a not so positive note is that the door of unit 15 was very noisy at night with the wind, with quite a draft inside the chalet, never slept well for both nights. I would also recommend that the shower head be replaced.Nevertheless we will visit again as it left us with good memories.RegardsKoos and Lynette Franken

One of the nicest camps i have stayed in, clean & all the staff were very welcoming. Never knew that such a jewel existed on the way to CT..will definitley refer to all my friends.

Waar is al die springbokke? Verder was alles reg.

We had a great 4 dasy in the Karoo National Park. The accommodation we had was super - we had the double bed chalet with separate bathroom. It was ideal for my wife and I. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet in the camp and although the game was quite sparsely distributed we saw a large herd of eland as well as a large herd of gemsbok which was great. Another game highlight for us was our forst viewing of the Mountain Zebra. We were fascinated to note the difference between the Mountain Zebra and the Burchell's.One feature we found interesting is that there is no attempt to take the visitor close to the watering points anywhere in the park. Given how sparsely the game is distributed and how dry it is at this time of the year it would be a good way to give visitors a better chance of seeing game.We also noted that game was quite timid and soon moved off once a vehicle approached. Certainly more so than we have seen in Kruger for example.Clearly a lot of care and effort have been put into the Interpretive Centre and we learnt a lot from the material and the displays. We thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of the served breakfast. The staff were excellent and the breakfasts were really tasty. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will return. Of course our next visit will be after lion have been introduced to the park and it will be interesting to see how this changes the dynamic in the park.

Dave Wright

We arrived late afternoon and that night it snowed so we did not see much! The next day the roads were closed.

Sue Goodman

We saw bat eared foxes. The food at the restaurant is not as good as it used to be. The atmosphere at Karoo Park can only be described as magical, as those mountains laden with age loom over you and you sip red wine in the sunset. We will definitely be back, hopefully for a longer stay next time. I couldn't take any photos because I couldn't buy batteries at the shop.

Game and birds great , chalet neat and clean , facilities good - only small complaint is that hot breakfasts served cold!!

Very relaxing atmosphere and staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. More fresh veggies would have been nice at dinner time, but we understand the issue with distance and location

LIZELLE SIEBERT

We had a wonderful time, especially circular wild drive excellent! Breakfast and service very good.

A one night stopover but enough of a taster to tell us that we must stay longer next time and explore what is on offer. Best Parks Board accomodation we've stayed in!

We had the most enjoyable stay: all went smooth during booking-in, cottage was in an immaculate condition, breakfast in the most beautiful restaurant was delicious, loved the game-drives and picnic area, friendliness of personnel, etc, etc, etc. Will be back soon!

Gerhard Smuts

ELSABE CONRADIE

What a wonderful place to stay. Definitely worth staying for more than one night. We'll be back to go on all the game drives and explore the park more thoroughly.

Beverly Keyter

It was great. Thanks

It was great. Thanks

Great idea to serve breakfast, but why not include cereals and yogurt.Kids only waste plates of eggs etc.Coffee should not be in a flask--always lukewarm. Service too slow. Will try you once more otherwise a bed and breakfast in town will be better.

Albie Kruger

Camp site was great and ablutions neat and tidy. One negative aspect was the braai units which are not very practical. The truck rims do not allow enough oxygen to feed the fire when lit. I battled to get the fire going and I used wood brought from home. I also had to prop up the grid with bricks to keep it in place. We enjoyed the 4x4 trail as well.ThanksCheers

WE had a wonderful time, However,at dinner I ordered the "Pork chops and potato wedges. This was a big mistake as i received one small chop with about eight wedges. This was not value for money and why put on the menu "chops" when only one is served. The food in general let down the experience. The waiters reception and the gate guard were to be commended for their friendlyness, efficiency and general conversation.Pity about the food!!

Howard Laycock

Karoo National Park - a good place to visit for a 3 or 4 day break. Luxury of having the lion roar 50m form us! However, should look to include black wildebeest and blesbok in the area. Although limited game, we saw a lot of it. Gemsbok, kudu, hartebees, klipspringer, Mountain Zebra, Burchell's Zebra with the Quagga strain...All in all, a good experience. Accommodation was spot on, and the restaurant served good food. Will be making this longweekend break an annual event to KNP. The Nuweveld 4x4 trial was tame as a dirt road, far from 4x4, but the scenery awesome. Very worth a short visit.

The restaurant was excellent. The accommodation was excellent. The reception was friendly and efficient. The rangers were friendly and efficient. We shall definitely visit again and recommend the park to all our friends.

Karoo National Park - a good place to visit for a 3 or 4 day break. Luxury of having the lion roar 50m form us! However, should look to include black wildebeest and blesbok in the area. My wife and I had a very pleasant three day stay in the park. The cottage was well equiped and comfortable. The breakfasts which were included in the price were excellent and good value. The drives were great and we saw numerous buck. The fossil trail was very interesting and quite amazing. All in all a very worthwhile experience.

We just overnighted (arrived very late in the afternoon and left early the following morning) en route to Cape Town. However, we would like to spend a few days at least next time as the peace and tranquility was alluring! The ablution facilities at the campsite were very good too.

After a long journey by car, the 2 nights in the Karoo Rest Camp were well deserved. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the beautiful mountains and the food in the restaurant. We did 2 hikes with a guide and enjoyed the Karoo autumn days. We will come again.

HAD A VERY NICE OVERNIGHT STAY. COTTAGE WAS VERY COMFORTABLE and SCENERY WAS AMAZING. VERY DRY IN PARK AND HOPE THEY HAVE HAD SOME RAIN

Exceeded our expectations. The chalet was very roomy and spotlessly clean, much better appointed than we expected. We used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and found it great, good basic food and friendly staff. Will certainly recommend it.

maureen battersby

The area was beautiful. Most impressive was the fossil trail. The Chalets were very basic and rather run down for the amount paid. The restaurant was absolutely appalling. The decor is old fashioned and the lighting dark, so much so that tourists at a nearby table had to use their torch to see the menu. We thought it didn't really matter that these things were not up to scratch and hoped that the food would be good. This too was disappointing. A Karoo lamb potjie which I thought would be the thing to order in the Karoo turned out to be under-cooked fatty pieces mainly lying in a gravy like sauce which could have been added afterwards as an after thought. The guard at the gate was great though as he welcomed us with a super sense of humour and probably was the best part of the experience together with the fossil trail.

The camp site is exceptional. The wild life to be seen is not what it was a few years ago.

The correct words to describe the serenity and the beauty of this park don't exist! It is really a place where one finds inner peace and tranquillity. Will definitely visit again and again.

Lovely setting, bit cold to have done the 7am hike as the mountains were capped with ice. We did enjoy our cottage; however we feel that the lounge could be set with more comfortable chairs. As for the lions; well we'll continue with our search next time. Thanks

Corinne

We were particularly impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff at this camp. The chalet we stayed in needs a little bit of maintenance - knobs falling off drawers, small things like that.

Lynne McNamara

Facilities are in good condition, staff are very friendly and efficient. Breakfasts are good.I am sorry that lions have been introduced - for birders, walking is an important part of the experience.A white faced skops owl was seen in the gents loo at a picnic site

David Broom

Everything fine, friendly staff, breakfast greatly improved with a variety now available. Very peaceful no pensioners discount although outside school holidays. Beautiful birds seen at chalet.

Dr A.L.C.Colton

Ablutions were clean and satisfactory.Camp site good. Animals and birds a little disappointing. Saw no birds at all from the hide.

As always the beauty of the Karoo takes your breath away, but I was very disapointed this year. There are nearly no animals. What's going on? We were there 4 days and drove around a lot but did not see that much. In total we saw 3x springbuck (only 1 at a time so 3 in total?) .Last time we saw herds of springbuck. We saw 4 kudu's, 1 duiker ,3 baboons, 1 steenbuck,4 Eland, and a few rooihart beeste. This was very disapointing. Then the kitchen is very slow and not up to standard. We ate only one dinner there but had 3 problems. My husband ordered mushroom sauce which they didn't have , I ordered fish and chips for the kids which they didn't have, then I ordered toasted cheese and they came back and said they do not have bread? Then they used home baked bread which was lovely. It is such a lovely and wonderful camp but this will definitely be last time for us.

Our recent visit to the above mentioned park was an experience that we will always remember. From the moment when we arrived at the gate we were greeted with friendliness by all the staff at the camp.We enjoyed the meals and the happy smiles of all the staff in the dining room. The prices at the shop were very reasonable compared to the Kruger National Park. Our next visit will definately be longer.Keep up the excellent standard of the Karoo National Park!

Mara Gibson

Keep up the good workI suggest that you mark the trees (tree names) around the camping site

Juergen Dieter Gloeck

The accommodation was more than good and the people very friendly and helpful - but what we really loved was the scenery and the quiet. We were very conscious of being in an ancient land.I would have liked more on the palaeontological aspects. The fossil trail and the interpretative centre, however, were worth a visit.A good quality pair of binoculars is essential, as in any game reserve, to see the animals at the foot of the mountains.Well-worth a visit or two ....

We had a wonderful time at the park. The staff is warm and friendly. The chalet was spacious and clean with all the kitchen utensils you could ever need. The bird life is fantastic, and we saw lots of animals on our drive through the park.

The restaurant was a disappointment - not one of the chicken dishes (that's a quarter of the meals) were available for supper,so I ordered the lamb potjie. When my husband's meal was brought I was informed that the lamb potjie was also finished and I will be having lamb shank. For breakfast we were informed that there was no fruit available with the cereal and yoghurt and fruit option. The catering needs attention.

This was a first time visit for us, having been keen to do it for years however not long enough as it was only for one night and we would recommend two nights. It was fabulous. Hot hot hot but a lovely pool to refresh us. The reserve although small was rewarding and we were more interested in the birds however enjoyed the game viewing too. The park and the facilities are in immaculate condition. The staff were particularly friendly and relaxed without detracting from prompt and efficient service. The included breakfast was yummy. The cherry on top was the full moon, so buttery and close that we could almost reach out to grab it. Through the binocs we clearly saw two of Jupiter's moons so the night sky viewing was the most exciting aspect. Many thanks to all.

We stayed there over one night so our visit was brief.Oue accomodation was excellent with very comfortable rooms and a great braai area.Breakfast was also of a very good standard and we enjoyed it immensely. As we arrived quite late in the evening due to our travel arrangements, we only got one chance to get into the park and that was for just over an hour, and on the morning of our departure. We saw some wildlife but maybe not as much as we expected. We would certainly return but would have to give it an extra day to appreciate the terrain and wildlife more

Always very happy to visit any of your camps, and always looking forward to the next trip. Next will be Kruger park, and cant wait for that camping trip. 10 days at Satara and 10 days at Berd-en-Dal

Dit was die beste park wat ons al ooit besoek het. Die ontbyt en diens was 5 ster gehalte. Werklik waarde vir jou geld

Berdine Vos

The beauty more than makes up for us not seeing so many animals - but, of course, in the Karoo it takes a large area to support only a few animals. We just loved seeing so many ostrich and their numerous chicks. The night sky in the Karoo is alone worth the visit. Keep up your high standard.

Genny Schild

I have stayed at Karoo National Park in the past and have generally been happy. However, given my recent experience on 28-29 January 2012, I will not be back. Complaints include the following:- water pressure in the shower to low so that it was impossible to wash properly.- the set breakfast was terrible and does not compare to the buffet type breakfast served previously where you could select fresh fruit and cereals. Canned fruit was served, and no flexibility was given (after asking) in terms of the cooked breakfast.- the camp has been enclosed because of the lions introduced in the reserve - I enjoyed being able to walk/jog independently in the reserve. Currently you cannot even walk to the bird hide. I had specifically taken my mountain bike for a ride in the reserve!- the chalet was not particularly clean, particularly the verandah.

Jeff Smithers

There was a lack of specific information about the conservancy fee for non-SA citizens (this was MUCH larger than the expected fee charged SA citizens), or about the time of arrival or the need to have a passport.

We extended our stay to 2 nights initially, and then returned on the 25.01 for another night. We did the circular route of 50 km at the top twice because it offers such beautiful scenery. We saw there Red Hartebeest and a large herd of about 20 Gemsbok, apart from the Kudus and Zebras mentioned. The lions were nowhere to be found. - With my Landrover Freelander I attempted the Afsaal 4x4 route. However, after the first donga the path became very overgrown. I did not want to scratch the paintwork of my car. Perhaps next time I will attempt it again. We love to stay at Karoo NP every time we travel between Johburg and the Cape, and have done so a number of times already.

D. Goldbach

The camp was in such a good condition. We enjoyed the game drive but was disappointed in the animals.

What I did enjoy about the Karoo National Park was the accommodation - the cottages are exceptionally clean and the Air-conditioned rooms are a blessing. I really slept well which is not usually the case. As a family it was nice to unwind a bit and we had fun playing cards and games - sadly missing in our daily routine (fun that is)Overall a pleasant experience and I would recommend spending time here.

John Harrison

The camp sites are all in excellent condition despite the dry conditions. The ablutions, although old are well kept and maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in the Karoo. Thank you.

Pieter Fourie

What a fantastic surprise! We have missed so much, driving past such a resort. From entering the gate, you are impressed by the friendliness, professionalism and informed staff. The facilities in the camping site, where we stayed, were of a very high standard.I definitely promote your resort where ever I come. Thanks for a wonderful stayAnnalie Cronje

Thank you very much for a very organized and well maintained campsite and reserve. It was great staying over, we will stay longer next time.We saw a immature - Black Eagle that was quite interesting.

The fossil trail was very much of interest but sadly the signs are badly bleached by the sun and mostly unreadable. These need to be renewed and properly protected from the sunlight.

Our first visit. Impressed by the standard of service and the facilities. Got lucky to see lion at the camp water hole. Enjoyed the quietness above all.
