The private reserve is home to an abundance of species: 147 mammals including the "Big Five", 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees. The reserve is predominantly open savannah and with a nearly perfect year-round climate, it is the ideal African safari holiday destination.

Your African safari adventure begins as you take a short flight from Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport to Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival, you will be met and transferred by road to your lodge.
Depending on your time of arrival, you may have time to explore the lodge facilities and enjoy a sumptuous lunch before venturing out into the bush on your first-afternoon game drive. Thornybush Game Reserve is a photographer's paradise, so be sure to have your camera ready as you come up-close for some perfect shots, including the most magnificent sunset you will ever see. On your return, you will be greeted by a perfectly prepared dinner served under a canopy of stars.
In the morning you will gather in the dining area as you enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee, before heading back into the bush on a morning safari. Game drives are generally 3 -4 hours in duration with a stop en-route to stretch the legs and enjoy a refreshment. When you return to camp, breakfast is served and is followed by some free time to relax in your suite or beside the pool. For the more adventurous travelers, we recommend the guided bush walks that is sure to heighten your senses.

After yet another exhilarating morning game drive and heartwarming breakfast, you will gather your belongings and bid farewell to the African bush as you transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. On arrival, you will connect with your onward travel arrangements, leaving behind a magical safari experience.
